- Anne R. Allen has a comprehensive and very good list of tips for naming fictional characters.
- My newest secret BFF (secret meaning only in my mind), Tawna Fenske, writes with usual humor and flair about how writers stay organized and keep notes...even if it's with a broken piece of soap on the shower door.
- Enter NPR's 600-word short story contest. You know you kind of want to. But hurry, deadline is Sunday April 11.
- The Rejectionist cuts down MFAs who are full of themselves. Thank you, Le R!
- Roni asks if you can learn to be funny. She flattered me by linking to me in the post and pointing out how sarcastic I am. Strangely, and perhaps tellingly, she regularly has 30+ comments and has a million followers, and linked to me twice this week, but I'm not seeing the uptick in blog traffic. I am not bitter. I love those of you who follow and comment (really). But I would be a fat, filthy liar if I said I didn't want at least 3/4 of her followers. kthx.
- Carrie has a steamy recap of her Writing Erotica workshop.
- Meghan Ward has a contest going on -- an easy one with a great prize. Go enter!
- Again Carrie brings us a heavily-re tweeted post on how Wordle can help you edit.
- Again Meghan Ward (she and Carrie are on FIRE) has a great post on the drastic measure she took to meet her writing goals. Serious stuff, peeps.
- Elana Johnson writes about blogging matters, from topics to design.
- Janice Hardy discussed query errors that aren't really about the query. Awesome post.
- A good article on why writers need to use video for book promotion. To which I say, that's nice, but I don't want to see your rehashes of fricken Blair Witch, so take a gander at this: 11 steps to making book trailers.

Thanks for the round up. I feel your pain on the followers. And I promise to comment more.
My WIP is further in danger, what with all these tempting links! Thanks for the round-up!
Ooh, lots of links this week. Thanks for the mention. And I'm sorry my linkage didn't send followers over here--you're awesome--what is wrong with everyone?
Maybe you should consider that Faustian bargain I made, it seems to be working. :) But seriously, I think I got my first 150 peeps by commenting my a** off on other blogs and following lots. After that point, the scale seemed to tip the other way and ppl started finding their way to me first.
Just know that regardless of that pesky number, you have a fab blog over with with terrific advice and large doses of wit. (See, I didn't say sarcasm, so you and Jm wouldn't get all bristly again ;) )
It's true what Roni says. And for the record, I read Sierra's blog just because I want to and not because she has a damn useful thing to say. It's all superficial with me, Sierra. Your blog is just funny and pretty. Like butterflies in tutu's.
Great links. I don't Follow blogs, unfortunately.
So keep in mind that followers does not equal regular readers. You probably get more attention than you think.
Thanks for the linkage again this week, Sierra. Your links are always awesome. Carrie's advice on writing erotica is fantastic.
LOL guys thanks
Jenna, thanks for the love. :)
Cynthia, I love that you are distracted by the links, me too!
Roni, I already made that deal so I could write, work full time, mother full time, blog 5 days a week, be in two writing groups and not be exhausted, so maybe I can amend the contract to include followers and comments ;)
Kristen, you are way cute. I love your blog because of the shiny rocks. And your way funny commentary.
Atsiko, Sitemeter is a great way to keep track of actual traffic!
Anne, thank you..the links are only good cause you guys put out thoughtful posts.
Thanks so much for the mentions, Sierra, and for all the great links. I am going to check them all out right now!
Oh, such shiny links. You do know how to pick them. I ran immediately for the Rejectionist and quite possibly fell in love. Am now off to find out how to make a book trailer. Just for kicks. In the event I actually publish.
Excellent choices madame... I've had the fortune to have visoted about half of them. I'll have to check out the others soon.
Ahhhhh... more link love. You know how to feret out the good stuff!
Thank you!! :)
